Jerusalem Post says imagery shows Iran rebuilding a 'bomb testing' site; Al-Modon says an Israeli daily contradicts Netanyahu's bomb claim
One Israeli paper reads satellite pictures as Iran restoring Taleghan 2. A Lebanese site says Yedioth Ahronoth disputes the Israeli prime minister. Iran's officials speak only of attacks on its sites, not of what is being built.
The imagery. The Jerusalem Post says satellite pictures show Iran "restoring the heavily damaged Taleghan 2 facility and adding apparent protection against future strikes". The pictures come from Vantor Technologies and the Institute for Science and International Security, a US think tank.
The dispute. Al-Modon, a Lebanese site, says Yedioth Ahronoth contradicts Netanyahu's renewed claim about an Iranian bomb, made at a Likud meeting on Thursday. We hold only its opening line. It does not say what either one said.
Iran. Iran's envoy in Vienna called for "zero tolerance" of attacks on sites under IAEA safeguards, IRNA and Shargh report. Shargh quotes the atomic agency's spokesman on "options" and "a strong will to defend our country".

How it was framed. Both of our blind readings agree: the Post states the site's purpose as fact, while Al-Modon calls the bomb account a claim. Neither Iranian report names who attacked Iran's sites.
What is not settled - Whether Taleghan 2 is tied to weapons work. Only one report says so, and the source is a think tank's reading of the pictures. - What Netanyahu claimed, and what Yedioth reported. We hold no Yedioth report. - What Iran says the site is. No Iranian report we hold mentions it.
What this is about. Is Iran rebuilding a military site that one Israeli paper calls a nuclear bomb-testing facility, after Israeli strikes damaged it?
How it got here. Iran has enriched uranium for two decades. It has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The treaty bars it from building a weapon and puts its declared nuclear sites under inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These inspections are called safeguards. Iran says its programme is peaceful. Israel and the United States have long said Iran wants the ability to build a bomb. In 2015 the IAEA concluded that Iran did coordinated work relevant to a nuclear explosive before 2003. Iran denies it ever sought a weapon.
The 2015 nuclear deal limited Iran's programme in return for relief from sanctions. The US left the deal in 2018, and Iran then expanded its enrichment. The war in Gaza followed the Hamas-led attack on Israel of 7 October 2023. Since then Israel and Iran have struck each other directly: in April and October 2024, and in a twelve-day war in June 2025. In that war Israel, and then the United States, bombed Iranian nuclear sites. The Jerusalem Post says Israeli strikes damaged Taleghan 2. The text we hold does not say when.
Who is involved. Iran's government and its Atomic Energy Organization speak through IRNA, the state news agency, and through Tehran newspapers. Benjamin Netanyahu is Israel's prime minister and leads the Likud party. The IAEA is the UN's nuclear watchdog, based in Vienna. Its member states meet each year at a General Conference, where Iran's envoy spoke. The Institute for Science and International Security is a Washington think tank that analyses satellite images of nuclear sites.
What is at stake. If Iran is rebuilding sites for weapons work, the case for more strikes gets stronger. If the bomb claim is disputed within Israel, that case gets weaker. Iran's position is that a strike on a site under safeguards is itself the breach.
Where it stands. No inspector's finding on Taleghan 2 appears in any report we hold.
