Romania's Chamber of Deputies refused an inquiry into private flights on Wednesday. The two reports we hold give the refused committee two different names — and only one of them counts the votes.

The name is the gap. Digi24's "Nisa" is Nice, and its single sentence is about flights to Mykonos and Nice. HotNews.ro's headline says "Nordis" — a word that appears nowhere else in its text, which also describes flights to Mykonos and Nice. Neither report explains the name it uses.

One report counts. HotNews.ro is the only one of the two that publishes a tally, and the only one that says who was to be investigated. Digi24 reports the refusal and stops.

Not settled. Which name is the committee's own. Why four against were enough to beat four in favour. Whether anyone abstained — HotNews.ro's sentence on the vote breaks off mid-clause. Neither report names a single passenger.

Romania's Chamber of Deputies was asked this week to open an inquiry into private flights. Two parties, PNL and USR, wanted a committee to investigate flights to Mykonos and Nice. On Wednesday the chamber's standing bureau, the body that decides whether such committees are set up, refused. Both reports we hold on the refusal run to a sentence or two.

One of them says whose flights were at issue: MPs, officials and judges of the Constitutional Court. The same one gives a vote — four for, four against. The other gives no numbers and no passengers. Neither explains why the request failed on a tie, neither names anyone who flew, and neither says what the two halves of the committee's name refer to.
