Iran lists unfrozen funds and an end to the US blockade as its terms, the Jerusalem Post reports; An-Nahar's unnamed source says nuclear talks must wait for the Islamabad deal
Iran says it has sent Washington its terms for ending the war. Of the three reports we hold, only one lists them: the war ends on every front, Iran's frozen funds are released, and the US naval blockade is lifted. None of the three reports how much money is frozen, and none carries a US reply.
What Iran says. Iran says it has passed on its conditions for restarting talks and ending the war with the United States. The Jerusalem Post and Efimerida ton Syntakton both report this. Neither says who received the conditions.
What the terms are. Only the Jerusalem Post lists them, citing Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei: "ending the war on all fronts, unfreezing Iranian funds, and ending the US naval blockade". Efimerida ton Syntakton says the terms were sent but does not list them.
A different message. An-Nahar quotes an unnamed Iranian source speaking to TASS, the Russian news agency. The source says Tehran is ready for a diplomatic settlement, "including the possibility of nuclear talks". Those talks must come "after the full implementation of the Islamabad agreement".

What is not settled - How much money is frozen, and where. None of the three reports gives an amount. - Who received the terms. None of the three reports says. - How Washington has responded. None of the three reports carries a US reply. - Whether Rezaei's three terms and the source's Islamabad condition are the same demand or two different ones.
What this is about. Iran is setting out what it would take to stop fighting the United States. Its terms are mostly economic: release its money held abroad and lift a US naval blockade of its shipping.
How it got here. Iran and the United States have been adversaries since the 1979 revolution. In 2015 Iran agreed to limit its nuclear programme under a deal with world powers. In exchange, sanctions were lifted. In 2018 the United States left that deal and brought sanctions back. Under those sanctions, much of Iran's income from oil sales was held in foreign banks that it could not freely use. In June 2025 Israel struck Iran's nuclear and military sites. The United States then bombed three nuclear facilities, and a ceasefire followed within days. The reports we hold describe a war now under way between Iran and the United States. According to An-Nahar, a memorandum of understanding was signed in Islamabad this June to settle the conflict, and Pakistan is now leading mediation to revive it. The reports do not say when the current fighting began or when the blockade was imposed.
The actors. Iran wants its funds released and the blockade ended. Mohsen Rezaei, the official the Jerusalem Post quotes as security chief, is a former commander of the Revolutionary Guards. The United States, which the Jerusalem Post names as enforcing the blockade, backs Israel. Pakistan is the mediator, according to An-Nahar. Russia enters only as the channel: its agency TASS carried the unnamed source.
What is at stake. Iran sits on the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow sea exit from the Gulf. A large share of the world's seaborne oil passes through it. A blockade of Iranian ports cuts off the state's main source of revenue. Lifting it, and releasing the frozen funds, would reopen that income. The reports we hold measure neither the funds nor the cost.
Where it stands. Iran says its terms have been sent. None of the three reports carries a US reply.
